Professor Ben Boyd
Prof. Ben Boyd specialises in Drug Delivery Sciences. He is currently the Group Coordinator for the Drug Delivery Sciences group in the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University, Australia. He is also alternate Associate Dean of Research. His group focus on colloidal and structural aspects of lipids, lipid self-assembly and pharmaceutical systems, focused on controlling materials at the colloidal scale for delivery in pharmaceutical and other fields. His group is also active in developing new synchrotron-based characterisation approaches for lipid and solid state systems.
Prof. Boyd holds a PhD in Chemistry. He has years of industry experience in pharmaceutical industries, before commencing an academic position at Monash University. He is current President of the Australian Chapter of the Controlled Release Society, Immediate past Chair of CRS Board of Scientific Advisors, a current CRS Board member and Past Secretary of the Colloid and Surface Science Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Society.
Prof. Boyd received his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 1999. He was the recipient of the Gattefossé-sponsored AAPS 2011 Lipid-based Drug Delivery Outstanding Research Award, and is currently on an Australian Research Council-funded Future Fellowship for the discovery and development of light activated drug delivery system.
